If you ask Brooke Berry, it’s not quite a man’s world – she’s a big believer in the power of the sexual revolution, and she revels in her womanly sway. Half Japanese and half Scandinavian, with brown eyes and soft, dimpled cheeks, Brooke was a student at heady Berkeley University when she became a Playmate. For a woman of her beauty and brains, it was just the opportunity she’d been waiting for. “I’m kind of a nudist, actually,” says Brooke, laughing. “I hate to say it, but I think people notice my looks first!” Playboy photographers certainly did – following her appearance in a Girls of the Pac 10 pictorial, we asked Miss Berry to be our Miss May 2000. “People treat me differently now,” she says. “Being a Playmate has definitely been life-changing!” Despite her sudden fame, Brooke remembers an important life lesson imparted by her parents. “The person on the inside is what you have to live with for the rest of your life,” she says wisely. “It’s more important to be a kind person than to look good, because that only lasts a few years!” We’re inclined to agree, but what better way to celebrate youth and beauty than with one’s very own Playboy Centerfold?
