Julie Clarke is not your average, everyday beach babe. Born in Arizona, the golden-blonde beauty was raised in Naples, Florida, where she spent long, lugubrious hours at the beach. In the early nineties, she was answering phones at a health club, entertaining fantasies of Playmate-hood, and entered a local bikini competition in hopes of getting scouted. “I’d always thought that if I ever had a chance to be a Playmate, you wouldn’t have to ask me twice,” reminisces Julie. We asked her once, and once was enough – trading Naples Beach for the pool at the Playboy Mansion, she found herself flanked by a flock of other Playmates, who called her Miss March 1991. “Posing nude for the first time was fun, and even funny,” says Julie, whose retro-themed pictorial featured her in plaid, pearls and a pair of saddle shoes. “I loved getting to shoot in the old-time diner, but the hot lights melted my ice cream sundae!” When not in front of the camera, Tampa-based Julie spends time at the beach or the gym, and never wants for a date on a Friday night. “My ideal man is strong but sensitive, and gives a great massage,” says Julie – and in fact, she considers strong, massage-ready hands a prerequisite for a boyfriend. “When I meet a guy, I look at his hands,” she admits. “A good massage can hurt at first, but when all the kinks are out, that’s when I feel like snuggling. I’m Floridian, so it doesn’t even have to be cold – maybe sixty.” Is it hot in here, or is it just us?
