Parents everywhere want to enrich their children’s lives, and Emily Arth’s parents were no different. Emily’s mother was a professional opera singer back in her day, and from a young age, she instilled a love of music in her daughter. The all-natural brunette is a talented pianist, and though she was accepted at Oberlin College to further her musical studies, she didn’t stay very long. “I'm far too social to bury myself in a practice room for years on end,” says Emily. “I really didn't want to give my life to the piano. There are too many other things I want to do.” What does our Miss June 1988 want to do exactly? She wants to be able to read as many books as possible as she travels around the globe. “My favorites are The Persian Boy, Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc, Slaughterhouse-Five, A Confederacy of Dunces, Of Human Bondage and Shogun,” says Emily a little breathlessly. During her upbringing, she was lucky enough to travel the world because of her father’s career. Having been to the Philippines, Indonesia, Germany and Kenya, the busty Playmate has a word of advice for anyone who loves to read historical or controversial books while traveling. “I was reading James Clavell's novel Shogun on the subway in Tokyo and the Japanese were very disapproving. They said that Shogun should not be considered true Japanese history. I don't know whether or not any of them had even read the book,” explains Emily. “I'm on a classics binge. I wouldn't call myself cerebral, really, but intellectual things do appeal to me.” This intellectual sweetheart absolutely appeals to Playboy fans.
