I was born in North Dakota, she says. My mom was in the military, so we moved aroundIve lived in small towns in three different states. The family settled in Hershey, where Kaylia still lives today, working hard to make a name for herself as a fitness model, despite her familys insistence that she join the military, too. Im a small-town girl, but I have big dreams, she insists. One day, I hope that everyone will know my name. Oh, and by the wayits pronounced Kay-la Ca-saund-ra!When Kaylia was younger, her grandmother regaled her with tales of the Playboy Mansionshed been to some of Hefs legendary parties, and Kaylia soaked those stories up like a sponge. She couldnt shake the idea of becoming a Playmate, so finally, she went for a test at Studio West. Boy, are we ever glad she did. Im shy, but once you get to know me, watch out, says Kaylia. I come out of my shell and feel free to get a little weird and have some fun! Kaylias addictively goofy personality won over Hugh Hefner, who hand-picked her to become our Miss June. A week before Christmas, I finally got the call, she remembers. I couldnt have ever asked for a better gift!Despite her larger-than-life ambitions, Kaylias heart is where the home isa self-described homebody, she loves nothing more than a night in with a glass of red wine, a movie and her charcoal Lab, Ryder, asleep at her feet. Theres something very appealing and sexy about that, says Kaylia. As a small-town girl, Id rather be cute and comfortable than try to impress other people. And you know, Ryders just like mepretty, but easygoing. Now that shes a Playmate, Kaylias ready for anything, but at the end of the day, shell remain, naturally, herself. It didnt even hit me that I was a Playmate until I walked into the store and bought my magazine, she sighs. Its definitely my time to shine!
