
Playboy's Photo Library records on Diane are skimpy, but Hefner's recollection that she was shot by Bruno Bernard. Bernard, who was described as "the Rembrandt of the photographic portrait," left his native Germany to escape Nazi persecution and set up shop in Hollywood, where he became on of the most sought-after photographers of moviedom's Golden Era. Susan has published several books and CD-ROMs on his works, among them "Bernard of Hollywood's Marilyn" and "Bernard of Hollywood's Pin-Ups: Blondes! Brunettes! Redheads!"
