There’s no one like Paz de la Huerta. Born María de la Paz Elizabeth Sofía Adriana de la Huerta – no kidding – she’s the daughter of a Spanish duke and a women’s rights advocate. She grew up in SoHo, and her upbringing was as singular as one might imagine – she went to private school with Zac Posen, lived in the same building as famed gallerist Larry Gagosian, has been painted by Francesco Clemente, and was cast in her first film, The Cider House Rules, at fourteen. (Whew.) Paz has acted in in several independent films – most memorably, as The Nude in the Jarmusch stunner The Limits of Control – but is perhaps best known for her role as hot plate Lucy Danziger on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. More than an actress, Paz is ‘a model and a muse’. Best bud Zac Posen dresses her for the red carpet, and she’s the face of French panty outfit Agent Provocateur. In film or on television, New York or Los Angeles, clothed or in the nude, Paz exudes sexuality, and you have the sense that this is who she is – fun, fearless and remorselessly herself.
